Schuh Bode Opens Branch In Hamburg´s QUARREE Wandsbek

Since February 24, Schuh Bode has been enriching the fashion offering at QUARREE with a wide range of brand shoes for men, women and children on over 500 sq m of retail space. Family-run for five generations, the Hamburg shoe company fits in perfectly with the tenant mix of the center in the middle of Wandsbek.

Multi-use is not the only principle behind the success of QUARREE in Hamburg Wandsbek. The mix of popular international brands and individual, owner-managed stores is also part of the clearly defined letting strategy of the center, which is owned by Union Investment, and managed by Sonae Sierra.

With Schuh Bode, Sonae Sierra’s leasing team, which is also responsible for center management at
QUARREE, was able to convince another traditional family-run Hamburg company of the location. The new shoe store fits in perfectly with the tenant mix and now complements the the range of branded shoes on offer at QUARREE.

Schuh Bode was founded in Hamburg’s city center in 1876 and was one of the largest shoe stores in the city in 1920. After the shoe store was destroyed by bombing in 1943, it had to move to Bergedorf. The business expanded, the company grew from generation to generation, it has developed further and now has 27 branches between Hamburg and Berlin.

Christian Bode, the fifth generation to run the family business Schuh Bode since 1994, explains his motivation for the move to QUARREE: “We saw that there was still room for improvement, to put it bluntly, in the brand shoe sector in Wandsbek. So we decided to take an exciting new step into QUARREE in Wandsbek. With our product range, our proximity to customers and our status as a family business we fit in perfectly here. We are looking forward to the people of Wandsbek and many enriching synergies in the center.”

Kerstin Behm, Asset Manager at Union Investment, adds: “We are delighted to have acquired Schuh Bode, another traditional and passionately run family business, for the QUARREE. Consulting and service are very important here. And that is why visitors and regular customers particularly appreciate the QUARREE.”
