Retail Shorts: Otto launches live shopping on Apple TV I Influencer Karo Kauer opens store at Westfield Überseequartier in Hamburg

Recent announcements include the opening of Karo Kauer in Überseequartier Hamburg and the launch of the Otto Live Shopping app.

Karo Kauer’s store will open as part of the grand opening of the mixed-use quarter in Hamburg’s HafenCity on April 25, 2024. In keeping with the location, the store design of the 100 square meter store was inspired by the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. The Eislingen-based influencer has also designed her own Hamburg collection, which will be available there alongside the standard collection. Marketing campaigns and events are also planned.

Live shopping is also becoming increasingly popular in Germany. Two out of three consumers can imagine buying a product at live shopping events, according to a statement from Otto. What is already a billion-dollar market in China is now coming to Germany with the specially developed Otto app on Apple TV. Easy to use for live shows, but recorded episodes are also available.

“With our specially developed app for Apple TV, we are bringing live shopping to TV sets for the first time,” says Jörg Heinemann, Innovation Evangelist at OTTO. “This means we no longer only reach viewers via otto.de and the OTTO app on small smartphone displays, but also on large TV screens. That’s why I’m pleased that we’ve now been able to launch another in-house development for the Apple TV App Store.”
It’s easy to use: the entertainment, i.e. the live shopping show, runs on the Apple TV, while you can chat or buy directly on your smartphone.” The development of live shopping apps for other streaming devices or TV providers is also conceivable for the future, Heinemann continues.
