MEC Leases 74,000 sq m of Retail Space in First Half of 2025

MEC, a leading specialist in the management of retail properties, remains on its growth trajectory in the first half of 2025. The company signed a total of 124 new and renewed lease agreements across its portfolio, covering approximately 74,000 sq m of retail space. A standout success story is the Halle Center Peißen, where MEC has demonstrated its comprehensive management and implementation capabilities.

“Our strong half-year result proves that we continue to achieve high leasing performance even after completing several major re-leasing projects,” said Christian Thiele, Head of Leasing Management at MEC. “What I find particularly gratifying is that we are not only developing effective concepts, but also consistently implementing them across our sites. The Halle Center Peißen is a great example of this in action.”

Tailored Strategy Drives Success in Halle Center Peißen

The groundwork for success at Halle Center Peißen was laid in 2023 with the development of a site-specific leasing strategy. This was crafted through close collaboration between the center management, commercial asset management, and MEC’s leasing team, along with the property owner. The goal: to modernize the tenant and sector mix and secure long-term commitments from existing anchor tenants.

Teamwork and a Holistic Approach as Key Success Factors

Christian Thiele attributes MEC’s sustained leasing success to early-stage strategic planning and interdisciplinary teamwork: “We combine strategic thinking with operational execution. That makes us a reliable partner for our clients – one that actively shapes change instead of merely reacting to it.”
