Jan Niclas Brandt Becomes New CEO Of MediaMarkt Austria And MediaMarkt Switzerland

Jan Niclas Brandt will become the new CEO of MediaMarkt Austria and MediaMarkt Switzerland starting April 1, 2024. The native German with Norwegian roots is taking on this dual role as part of a strategic realignment of the management levels in both countries. The aim is to grow closer together operationally and to benefit from complementary skills. Cooperation with the parent company will also be intensified.

“Retail is undergoing a transformation process throughout Europe – and we not only have to face up to this, but also want to play an active role in shaping it. The strategic realignment in Austria and Switzerland is our response to the path to an agile, successful future in these countries,” says Guido Monferrini, EVP Group COO of the MediaMarktSaturn Group, explaining the realignment.

In Jan Niclas Brandt, the MediaMarktSaturn Group has appointed a proven strategist and charismatic leader to head up the company in Austria and Switzerland: Brandt – part of the company since 2021 – was Vice President Corporate Strategy at the headquarters in Germany, where he successfully developed and launched the new corporate and sustainability strategy before moving to Austria in October 2023. As Managing Director Commercial, he is currently responsible for the operational business.

“It will be an exciting challenge to combine the strengths of both countries while at the same time taking into account the local characteristics and individual market and customer needs,” says Brandt, looking forward to the new role, adding: “I am convinced that if we move closer together as a team, we will succeed in a special way.”
