Place of the Week: Retail Park The Leaf sets sustainability standards

Retail parks are not only winning formats, developing them in the most sustainable way is the most future proof way: This is why Redevco’s ecological retail park “The Leaf” is our place of the week.

The Leaf Shopping Ternat opened in November 2018 and is dedicated to ecology and sustainability. The complex has around 30,000 sq m of lettable area and 15 shops including the anchor tenants Albert Heijn, Brico Planit, Lunch Garden and Action. The retail park is fully leased.

The Leaf project is Redevco’s most sustainable development and received a BREEAM Excellent rating. The sustainable materials were selected according to Cradle-to-Cradle®principle. The space alongside cycle and footpaths was enhanced through green roofs, which cover over 50% of the total roof surface and large areas with local vegetation.

At the entrance of the site, a public park was created with more than 900 parking spaces. In the middle of the parking zone, you can find an e-Tree, a ‘solar panel tree’ where solar power is generated. More information is available at www.theleaf.be, featuring a virtual reality experience of the retail park.
