Westfield London and Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier win awards at MAPIC 2025

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) has been awarded two times at MAPIC 2025, Europe’s most prestigious retail real estate show, held each year in Cannes, France. Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier won Best Urban Regeneration Project and Westfield London was named the Most Influential Retail Property Project of the past 30 years.

Anne-Sophie Sancerre, Chief Customer and Retail Officer, URW, said: “These two awards are a powerful celebration of URW’s dedication to the incredible customer experience we create at our destinations, and the impact we have in the communities we serve. From pioneering first to market retailers, local heroes and the best flagship outposts of major brands, Westfield centres are a unique combination of the best of the retail industry. That retail curation paired with immersive experiences and activations, exceptional customer services and our commitment to creating sustainable places, continues to shape the future of our industry while allowing us to grow our platform of Westfield-branded destinations in the world’s most dynamic cities. I want to thank our partners for sharing our vision for these amazing places and our extraordinary teams, whose energy and passion every day inspires our vision.”

Innovation & regeneration

Named 2025’s Best Urban Regeneration Project, Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is part of one of the most ambitious urban development projects in Europe – Hamburg’s HafenCity. Built on a former industrial site, the project blends a diverse retail, dining and entertainment offering with homes, offices, hotels and a cruise ship terminal. Designed as an integrated district with extensive connections to the city’s public transportation network, the project embodies URW’s commitment to partner with major cities on urban regeneration projects that support the environmental transition.

Europe’s largest shopping, dining and entertainment destination, Westfield London opened in 2008 and was immediately heralded as a landmark in retail innovation. Combining more than 460 stores and more than 80 restaurants, cafés and bars, the centre has been a catalyst for more than £8bn of inward investment to the local area and attracted more than half a billion visitors since its opening, generating around £18bn in sales and thousands of jobs for the local community.
