The story of CC Real began 20 years ago in a construction container on a building site in Zagreb. In 2006, founders Fabian Kaufmann, his late father Wolfgang Kaufmann, together with Sven Vorih, launched a company that has since evolved into an established investor and asset manager in the European retail real estate market. As the business expanded, Markus Bodner joined the partnership as Managing Partner in 2016.
Two decades later, CC Real manages a combined real estate and private debt portfolio worth EUR 3.5 billion. More than 250 employees representing over 20 nationalities work across the company’s headquarters in Vienna, multiple European offices and Australia, focusing on investing in commercial real estate, repositioning assets and creating long-term value. The company’s investor base and strategic partners include international institutional investors, family offices and global investment banks.

“We started in a construction container with a very clear vision of how modern retail real estate should work. At the time, it was impossible to imagine that this would develop into an international platform. Entrepreneurial thinking, long-term partnerships, clear values and the ambition to create sustainable value have been the key drivers throughout our journey.”
Fabian Kaufmann, Founder and Managing Partner of CC Real
Sven Vorih, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, adds:
“Today, our three strategic pillars – Retail & Mixed-Use, Industrial & Logistics, and Private Debt – provide a highly resilient platform for further growth across both existing and new markets.”
From Croatia to Europe and Australia
CC Real’s roots are in Croatia, where the company developed the country’s first modern Western-standard shopping centres, including City Center One West in Zagreb (2006), City Center One Split (2010) and City Center One East in Zagreb (2012). With a combined investment volume exceeding EUR 400 million, these projects significantly shaped the Croatian retail landscape and laid the foundation for the company’s international expansion.

“In times marked by geopolitical disruptions, wars, inflation, uncertainty and Covid – where crisis situations have almost become the new normal – CC Real’s decades of experience and proven crisis management capabilities are highly valuable assets, both internally and externally. Stability, long-term thinking, continuity, and a partnership-driven management culture are essential to our success.”
Markus Bodner, Managing Partner of CC Real
Three Pillars for Future Growth
Today, CC Real’s strategy is built around three core business segments: Retail & Mixed-Use, Industrial & Logistics, and Private Debt Investments. Retail remains the strategic core and backbone of the company, while logistics real estate and private debt provide additional diversification and attractive growth opportunities.
A major strategic milestone, led by Barry Brakey, Managing Partner, previously Head of Property at Future Fund (Australia’s Sovereign wealth fund) was the acquisition of a majority stake in Sydney-based private debt platform Madigan Capital in early 2026. Madigan Capital manages AUD 2.0 billion in funds under management, backed by major Australian pension funds such as VFMC alongside international institutional investors. CC Real also sees further potential across Europe. In addition to its established markets in Austria, Croatia and Finland, the company is actively targeting new retail investments and partnerships in Italy, France, Germany and selectively across the CEE/SEE region.

Parallel to this, CC Real is further expanding its Industrial & Logistics activities under the leadership of Patrick Zehetmayr, Managing Partner, former CTP CFO and ERSTE Group Bank Head of Division for the Group Commercial Real Estate, with a focus on urban logistics assets and business parks in Southern Germany and Austria.
20th Anniversary Year 2026
CC Real’s 20th anniversary will be marked throughout 2026 with a series of events and industry activities involving employees, long-standing partners and friends of the company, including investors, banks and advisors. The company will also increase its presence at selected industry conferences and real estate platforms across its target markets through keynote presentations and panel discussions. Twenty years after its beginning in a construction container, CC Real is not only looking back on an extraordinary growth story but is already focused on the next chapter of its international expansion. The anniversary year has already started with the landmark investment in Madigan Capital in Sydney – and further strategic investments are expected to follow.
The vision remains unchanged: creating long-term value.
