Norbert Scheele Departs C&A After More Than 40 Years Of Dedicated Leadership

After working for 41 years at C&A in various functions and countries, Norbert W. Scheele is leaving the operational business and his role as Head of European Expansion at the retailer at the end of May 2025.

“It was a great time, whether it was the first years in Germany, the time in Austria and Switzerland and the many years in expansion, where I had the privilege of managing the Central Eastern Bureau and working with so many great colleagues over the years,” shared Norbert Scheele. “What inspired me for many years was the cooperation, the cohesion, the joint work towards a common goal.”

Scheele began his career at C&A over 40 years ago as part of a six-year trainee program, during which he got to know the company from the ground up. When the expansion of C&A in Austria began in 1990, Scheele was appointed Branch Manager in Linz. From 2002 to 2009, he was a member of the Austrian management team in his roles as Expansion Manager and Head of Region, Central and Eastern Europe.

After three years as Country Manager for Switzerland and Italy, he returned to the leadership of C&A Austria and CEE in 2012, taking over the management of more than 350 stores and approximately 5,000 employees in nine countries. He has been working on the expansion strategies for C&A as Head of European Expansion since 2023, particularly for the growth area of CEE. In addition to his work for C&A, Scheele has been Vice President of the Austrian Retail Association and Head of the Fashion and Sport Circle since 2016.

“I look forward to continue working on existing projects and to new and further challenges in retail to support retailers as a sparring partner,” added Scheele.
