Münchner Handelsimmobilientag 2025: Spotlight on Polarization and the Future of Retail Real Estate, Munich, Germany /// November 11th

On November 11, 2025, Munich will once again become the hub of the retail real estate industry as the 16th Münchner Handelsimmobilientag (MHIT) opens its doors. Under the guiding theme “City. Space. Direction. How Polarization Shapes New Retail Formats and Locations”, the conference will gather leading experts, investors, and practitioners to debate the transformative forces reshaping Europe’s retail landscape.

The day will open with insights from Prof. Dr. Dieter Rebitzer (HfWU) and Prof. Dr. Kristof Dascher (IREBS, University of Regensburg), followed by a keynote from Joachim Stumpf, Managing Director of BBE Holding and member of the ZIA Council of Real Estate Experts, on the industry’s pressing question: Quo Vadis?

Highlighting the conference theme, retail strategist Klaus Striebich (RareAdvise) will explore how societal polarization is driving the creation of new retail formats and influencing location strategies.

Investment and financing will take center stage with thought leaders such as Katja Rincker (Meag), Dr. Maximilian Gutsche (Jost Hurler Gruppe), Vincent Frommel (Columbia Threadneedle Investments), and Tobias Hümmer (Ratisbona). Their discussions will culminate in a high-level panel moderated by Reinhard Winiwarter (ACROSS Magazine), asking: Where will the future invest?

The program further includes sessions on:

  • Urban psychology and retail with neuroaesthetics expert Stefan Suchanek.
  • Next-generation market and location analysis, presented by Markus Wotruba (BBE Handelsberatung).
  • Retail at transit hubs, featuring experts from BBE, IPH Gruppe, Berlin Airport, and AmRest.
  • Rethinking retail spaces, with contributions from IPH Gruppe, Bricks & Stories, and Tio Tio Social Sports.
  • Expansion strategies in polarized times, with executives from Lager 157, AlmInvest, and MediaMarktSaturn.

With its rich mix of keynote speeches, expert panels, and forward-looking analyses, the Münchner Handelsimmobilientag 2025 promises to deliver crucial insights for decision-makers navigating a rapidly shifting market.
