Kaufland Marketplace starts expansion into the Czech Republic and Slovakia

Kaufland is launching the expansion of its marketplace Kaufland.de. From 2023, their customers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia will not only be able to shop at their numerous stores, but also around the clock in the online marketplace.

As is already the case in Germany, the plan is to offer a wide selection of items from product worlds, such as homewares, electronics, garden and DIY, kitchen and household, and baby and children goods.

“The Czech Republic and Slovakia are ideal countries to launch our online expansion. In these countries, Kaufland is already firmly positioned as a retailer, and it will strengthen the online marketplaces with its high brand awareness,” said Rolf Schumann, Chief Digital Officer of the Schwarz Group. Currently, Kaufland operates over 1,350 stores in eight countries.

Kaufland’s Global Marketplace offers online retailers the opportunity to reach new target groups extending to millions of additional customers via country-specific sales channels. By registering just once, they can then use the German marketplace to simultaneously sell on the Kaufland marketplaces in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In October 2020, the Schwarz Group acquired the online marketplace real.de and subsequently integrated it into kaufland.de. With around 32 million online monthly visitors and more than 30 million products in over 5,000 categories, it is one of the largest and fastest-growing online marketplaces in Germany.
