Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier Celebrates First Anniversary

A year after opening, Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier has become a vital part of Hamburg’s city landscape. Situated in the HafenCity district, the mixed-use destination stretches the city center down to the Elbe waterfront, drawing in locals and visitors with a diverse offer across retail, food and beverage, entertainment, culture, and tourism. The official anniversary falls on April 8, 2026.

The numbers are solid. In just under a year, the destination recorded 12 million visits, backed by a dense tenant mix across 94,600 sq m of space, with 98 percent leased and 92 percent trading.

“We are very pleased with the success story and the first anniversary of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier,” said Theda J. Mustroph, General Manager of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier. “Our destination in HafenCity has quickly established itself as a new highlight of the city and a vibrant meeting point for the community. We want to celebrate this first birthday together with our partners from the district, the city, and all our guests. We also look forward to all the further milestones of this unique quarter.”

Julian Petrin, Hamburg’s City Center Coordinator, commented: “The Überseequartier has created a new magnet for people that enriches the existing energy and appeal of the inner city. Hamburg now offers a uniquely multifaceted interplay of exceptional inner-city locations that delivers everything you would expect from a major metropolis. The key is the interaction between established and new attractive places, which is already bearing fruit after just one year and will be further strengthened going forward. My vision is a seamless inner-city experience connecting the Überseequartier, Mönckebergstrasse, Binnenalster, and the western city center.”
