The Body Shop Could Make A Comeback In Switzerland And Belgium

Following Coop’s decline to renew the franchise agreement in Switzerland, former Karstadt manager Stefan W. Herzberg plans to take over and reopen The Body Shop stores in Switzerland, as well as Belgium.

In January 2025, Coop announced that it would not be renewing the franchise agreement for The Body Shop Switzerland, which ran until the end of May 2025. Now, Herzberg is already looking for new locations, shared the German Lebensmittelzeitung.

Also, the cosmetic chain disappeared from Belgium last year after a bankruptcy, but now seeks a return under Stefan Herzberg. The entrepreneur is currently undergoing a phase of negotiations with department store chain Inno and aims to look for ruther franchise partners.

Herzberg has already held the licenses for Germany and the Netherlands since last year. The cosmetics company filed for insolvency for its UK branch in mid-February 2024 and shortly afterwards also for its German branch, which was then partially saved by Herzberg.
