“Steiff is one of the most prestigious brands in the toy industry, defined by an exceptionally high standard of quality and strong emotional resonance,” said Clemens Maier, CEO of Ravensburger. “Steiff represents the heart in a very special way — with products that have been part of childhood for many people across generations, in the spirit of Margarete Steiff’s conviction: ‘Only the best is good enough for children.'”
The seller is the Steiff Beteiligungsgesellschaft, held by the heirs of company founder Margarete Steiff. “What mattered most to us was placing Steiff in responsible, entrepreneurial hands that understand and respect the brand, its values, and its history,” said Frederik Reimann, managing director of the Steiff Beteiligungsgesellschaft. Frank Rheinboldt, CEO of Margarete Steiff GmbH, added: “Together with Ravensburger, we are creating the framework to develop the Steiff brand over the long term, tap into international potential, and connect tradition with new momentum for the future.”
Founded in 1880 and 1883 respectively, both companies share a clear commitment to quality, brand strength, and sustainable corporate management. The combination strengthens the Ravensburger Group and opens up potential synergies for Steiff. Completion of the transaction remains subject to antitrust clearance.
