Online fashion retailing lags behind expectations

Due to a lack of consumer buying intentions, the figures are significantly below forecasts, according to E-Commerce News.

According to a forecast by Statista, e-commerce sales worldwide will level off at 7.6% by 2027. Whereas during the pandemic in the middle of 2020 the figure was 25.7%, the big slump came two years later at around 6.5%. By mid-2023, forecasts are at 8.9% followed by 9.4% in 2024.

European online fashion retailers turned over around €122 billion in 2022 according to a report from retail network Cross Border Commerce. Total European online retail generated €729 billion, according to the report, of which the fashion and beauty segment accounted for around €17 billion.
