MEC takes over the Management of Römerpassage Mainz

MEC, one of Germany’s leading retail real estate managers, has taken over site management for Römerpassage in Mainz. The Düsseldorf-based company was recently appointed by asset manager UBS Real Estate.

MEC prevailed in a competitive tender process and will now be responsible for commercial and technical property management, as well as leasing management, for the retail property in the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate.

An Urban Mixed-Use Concept with Future Potential

Römerpassage combines retail, residential, office, and healthcare uses across approximately 16,000 square meters of lettable space. With 27 shops across three levels, including tenants such as Hugendubel, Depot, and Søstrene Grene, the property ranks among the most important inner-city retail assets in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In addition, offices, medical practices, and residential units ensure a high level of mixed use and consistent footfall. Notable occupiers also include CSL Plasma, a specialist blood donation center.

“Mixed-use concepts like Römerpassage are a key building block for resilient and future-oriented city centers. Value creation today is no longer driven by retail space alone, but by diversity, synergies, and the quality of urban life.”

Jörg Wege, Head of Business & Project Development and urban planner at MEC

With its central location and multifunctional layout, Römerpassage is well positioned to benefit from evolving urban needs—making it a natural fit for MEC’s growing focus on integrated, experience-driven inner-city assets.
