The new team operates the store on Konrad-Adenauer-Allee, where customers can shop from a broad range of groceries and everyday products across approximately 4,600 square meters of sales space.
The store places particular emphasis on fresh produce and dairy departments. An in-store bakery offers a wide selection of bread and baked goods. The bakery section includes more than 120 items, from apple turnovers to cinnamon rolls, with products baked on site several times a day. A sushi counter is also located on the sales floor.

Retail Mix Complements the Location
“We are pleased to finally open our store here. Residents now have access again to a comprehensive grocery offering in Cuxhaven’s city center. Given the location between the railway station, the city center and the Old Fishing Harbour, we also see ourselves as a driver of footfall,” says Store Manager Jeanette Wilde.
The assortment includes more than 30,000 products, ranging from branded goods and private labels to organic and Fairtrade products, as well as vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free items. Around 80 products are sourced from within a 30-kilometre radius, underlining the store’s regional focus.
The surrounding retail mix allows customers to combine grocery shopping with additional purchases and services. Adjacent specialist stores include dm Drogeriemarkt, NKD and Woolworth. The entrance area also features a bakery, butcher, nail studio, hairdresser, cosmetics studio, Asian snack bar, telecommunications shop and a tobacco, lottery and magazine shop with postal services.
More than 460 parking spaces are available on site. The store is open Monday to Saturday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Energy Concept and Store Design
In addition to its product range, the store has been designed with a focus on functionality and energy efficiency. The interior combines modern color schemes with light wood elements and an updated lighting concept. A clear customer guidance system supports orientation throughout the store.
Energy-saving and climate-conscious technology was incorporated into the store design. The refrigeration systems generate excess heat, which is reused to support heating via the ventilation system. Instead of dissipating unused heat into the space, it is redirected to help regulate the indoor climate. This approach reduces energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. All refrigeration units are fitted with doors or glass sliding lids to minimize cold air loss.

Self-Checkout and Digital Services
Eight self-checkout terminals are available, particularly for customers with smaller purchases. A staff member is present in the area to provide assistance if needed.
The self-checkout system also supports K-Scan, Kaufland’s mobile scanning service. After registering with the Kaufland Card XTRA, customers can use a handheld scanner or their smartphone to scan items while shopping. At checkout, purchases are transferred to the self-checkout terminal via QR code and only need to be paid for. In addition to digital services, the store continues to operate four traditional staffed checkout counters.
