Kaufland Hrvatska has inaugurated its first island location in the Town of Krk, marking a new chapter in the retailer’s Croatian expansion under logistically challenging geographical conditions. The modern store covers a sales area of over 2,111 sqm and offers a full assortment of more than 21,000 products.

The new location comes with 172 parking spaces and two electric vehicle charging stations, an integrated “Meet Point” café, and extended operating hours from 07:00 AM to 10:00 PM Monday through Saturday, with Sunday openings also planned. Thirty-two new local jobs have been created as part of the opening.

Community investment accompanied the launch: Kaufland donated a total of €10,000 to the region, splitting the contribution equally between the volunteer fire department JVP Krk for new equipment and local children’s health initiatives. The retailer’s “Kaufland School of Fruit and Vegetables” project will also supply fresh produce weekly to students at Fran Krsto Frankopan Elementary School throughout the school year.

The grand opening festivities included a family entertainment program and a free live concert on the Krk waterfront promenade.
