Dr. Philipp Hoog, partner and head of corporate consulting at BBE Handelsberatung, has been appointed Honorary Professor at CBS International Business School in Cologne. The official appointment ceremony took place on June 26, 2025, with his inaugural lecture set to follow in the autumn semester. The professorship recognizes Hoog’s long-standing dedication to linking academic theory with business practice.
Prof. Dr. Hoog’s career exemplifies this connection. He began his academic journey with a dual study program in cooperation with DIY retail chain OBI, followed by business studies at EBS University of Business and Law in Oestrich-Winkel. There, he earned his doctorate in the field of market-oriented corporate management. After completing his PhD, Hoog joined the strategy consulting firm Dr. Wieselhuber & Partner in Munich in 2018, where he most recently served as Senior Manager. In 2022, he moved to BBE Handelsberatung, where he was tasked with building the firm’s strategy consulting division. As of 2025, he leads the entire corporate consulting unit and was promoted to partner in the second half of the year.
In addition to his consulting work, Prof. Dr. Hoog is a prolific contributor to trade publications and a respected lecturer. He has been teaching at various business schools for over a decade and has been a lecturer at CBS’s Mainz campus since 2020. Together with BBE CEO Dr. Johannes Berentzen, he recently co-authored the book Modernes Handelsmanagement, published by Springer in early 2025.
“Prof. Dr. Hoog’s deep expertise in strategy, marketing, and digital transformation makes him a strong advocate for practice-oriented and future-ready education. We are delighted to welcome him as an Honorary Professor,” said Prof. Dr. Anja Karlshaus, President of CBS International Business School. Commenting on the appointment, Hoog remarked: “I am deeply grateful to CBS for this recognition. It inspires me to continue sharing my consulting experience and academic insights with students in a meaningful way.”
