Berlin’s ALEXA shopping center at Alexanderplatz is participating in a nationwide awareness initiative for ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) on the occasion of International ME/CFS Day on May 12. The campaign aims to raise visibility for those affected by the condition, which impacts an estimated 650,000 people in Germany alone. Many live with significant limitations in their daily lives, with a large proportion classified as severely disabled and in need of care.
As part of the #LightUpTheNight4ME initiative, ALEXA is using its digital information screens to share facts about the disease. On May 12, the center’s in-house media will be illuminated in blue, the campaign color, under the motto “#LightUpTheNight4ME – Our Hope Shines Blue.”

“We want to help make ME/CFS more visible, a disease that despite its severity remains little known,” said Oliver Hanna, Sonae Sierra Center Manager at ALEXA. “As a high-footfall destination, we reach thousands of visitors every day and can help generate awareness and foster understanding.”
