Aldi Nord welcomes New CEO

After 28 years in the service of Aldi Nord, Torsten Hufnagel steps down as CEO and will be leaving on 31 December 2025, naming Nicolás de Lope as new leader for the group.

About Torsten Hufnagel

Torsten Hufnagel began his career with Aldi Nord in 1997 as Regional Sales Manager at the Nortorf regional branch. He later headed the logistics division before becoming Managing Director of the Scharbeutz regional company in 2006. Four years later, he advanced to lead Aldi Nord’s operations in Germany, and in 2015, he joined the group’s then administrative, now executive, board.

Since 2018, Hufnagel has served as CEO of Aldi Nord and as a board member of the family foundations that have long supported the company. During his tenure, he has driven significant improvements to the group’s market strategy, supply chain, and IT systems, while steering major investments in retail and logistics properties.

Hufnagel also oversaw the divestment of underperforming business areas, including the Danish operations and outdated production sites. At the same time, he played a key role in expanding Aldi Nord’s international footprint and in acquiring and integrating new production facilities.

His successor, Nicolás de Lope has also been a significant member of Aldi Nord’s executive board since 2023.
