HBB Wins European Real Estate Brand Award for Third Consecutive Year

Hamburg-based real estate developer HBB has once again been recognized as Germany’s top retail developer, receiving the prestigious European Real Estate Brand Award for the third year in a row. The accolade highlights HBB’s strength in innovation, sustainability, and brand resilience in a rapidly evolving market.

At a prestigious gala event held in Berlin, HBB Hanseatische Betreuungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH was honored with the European Real Estate Brand Award 2025 in the category “Developer Retail Germany” – marking the company’s third consecutive win.

The award is based on the annual brand value study by the European Real Estate Brand Institute (REB), Europe’s largest evidence-based brand analysis in the real estate sector. Now in its 17th edition, the study evaluated more than 1,200 corporate brands across 45 markets and 22 sub-sectors, drawing on over 120,000 expert assessments and 8,800 survey responses.

Key criteria for the award include:

  • Social Responsibility – Focused on transparent CSRD implementation and authentic social impact.
  • HR Competence – Emphasizing values-driven culture, modern leadership, and long-term employee retention.
  • Digitalization – Measuring innovation and digital excellence in adapting business models.
  • Resilience – Evaluating strategic agility and crisis resistance for sustainable growth.

At the heart of brand success, according to the REB Institute, lies “transruption strength” – a company’s ability to anticipate market shifts, act proactively, and transform change into competitive advantage.

“This award reaffirms our long-term strategy of developing intelligent, sustainable, and location-appropriate real estate — not only through new construction but increasingly by revitalizing existing properties,” said Harald Ortner, Managing Director of HBB Holding.

André Stromeyer, Managing Director of HBB Centermanagement, added: “Especially in the retail sector, it’s more important than ever to future-proof existing locations through innovative concepts, sustainable planning, and close collaboration with investors, tenants, and municipalities.”
