BALFIN Group, and Flying Tiger Copenhagen, the globally recognized Danish retail brand celebrated for its innovative and playful products, have entered a strategic partnership to open 50 stores across the Western Balkan region within the next four years.
This milestone agreement marks a significant step in enhancing regional retail ecosystems and affirms both companies’ commitment to sustainable growth, consumer-centric innovation, and cross-border collaboration. It reflects BALFIN Group’s ongoing mission to bring globally renowned brands and experiences to the Western Balkans and supports Flying Tiger Copenhagen’s ambition to expand its presence in high-potential markets.
The first store is slated to open in October 2025 in Skopje, North Macedonia, with further store launches planned across Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
“Building on our strong presence across Europe and the successful entry into Türkiye in October 2024, we see the Western Balkans as a natural next step in our expansion. The region’s appetite for international brands and its enthusiasm for creative, affordable products align perfectly with the Flying Tiger Copenhagen concept. We are thrilled to be entering this part of Europe and look forward to engaging with customers across the Western Balkans very soon”, said Julius Schmidt, Regional Director, India, Middle East and Africa (IMEA) at Flying Tiger Copenhagen.
Steven Grunerud, Vice President for Strategy Development at BALFIN Group, described the partnership as a powerful convergence of shared values and strategic visions: “As a leader in the retail sector across Southeast Europe, BALFIN Group serves as a gateway for top international brands looking to tap into this vibrant and fast-growing market. Our collaboration with Flying Tiger Copenhagen is a testament to our belief in long-term partnerships that deliver value and quality to our customers.”
Beyond its commercial dimensions, the partnership is poised to generate substantial socioeconomic value in the region. Approximately 400 new jobs are expected to be created across five countries, with a focus on local operational roles that contribute directly to economic empowerment and workforce development.
Together, BALFIN Group and Flying Tiger Copenhagen are laying the foundation for a modern, accessible, and engaging retail experience that resonates with consumers and uplifts local communities, setting a benchmark for international partnerships in Western Balkans.
