Zalando starts selling second-hand fashion

Young female shoppers like second-hand goods because they are eco-friendly.

Europe’s largest online fashion retailer Zalando is expanding its second-hand offering to seven more countries about six months after its market launch. The German company announced that, starting on Thursday, April 22, customers in Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Ireland will also be able to trade in their used clothing directly on the Zalando platform, as well as purchase items in the “pre-owned” category.

Zalando now offers 40,000 items from this category in 13 countries. Especially 18- to 29-year-olds are increasingly buying used fashion to do something good for the environment, said Torben Hansen, the manager in charge.
