Schwarz Group mourns the passing of Richard Lohmiller Jr. and Silke Lohmiller

With deep shock and disbelief, the companies of Schwarz Group announce the sudden passing of Richard Lohmiller Jr. and his wife, Silke Lohmiller. The couple, along with their son Henry, lost their lives in a tragic plane crash in Namibia on May 10.

A Defining Life for the Companies of Schwarz Group

Richard Lohmiller Jr. was one of the defining pillars of the company for over four decades. During his long career, he played a key role in shaping the development of Kaufland – including as a member of the Board and as CEO Kaufland Germany. For many years, his work was instrumental to the success and growth of the retail business. Until his retirement from operative business, he most recently served as a member of Schwarz Unternehmenstreuhand.

Passing away by his side was Silke Lohmiller, who was also a central figure within the group of companies for several decades. After holding various leadership positions within the company, she moved ten years ago to the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, where she was responsible for the education sector as Managing Director and set standards nationwide.

The companies of Schwarz Group bid farewell in deep mourning to Richard and Silke Lohmiller, two personalities whose life paths remain inseparably linked to the history and success of the group of companies.

The companies also express their sincere condolences and their sympathy in this difficult time of farewell goes to the surviving relatives as well as to all those who were close to the family.
