The new coffee house at Bahnhofstrasse 14 in Interlaken represents a milestone for the company, marking its 25th anniversary in Switzerland this year. An official opening event is scheduled for 19 March.

Almost 25 years after opening its first continental European Starbucks coffeehouse at Central in Zurich, the company is now expanding to Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland. The new location forms part of Starbucks’ long-term strategy to strengthen its footprint in Switzerland and continue investing in the market. In Switzerland, the brand is positioned around coffee quality, hospitality and coffee houses as meeting places. The Interlaken site is located centrally, close to Interlaken West railway station.
“Our presence in Switzerland continues to develop. We regularly review our locations and invest specifically where we see long-term potential,” says Jessica Dubois, General Manager of Starbucks Switzerland and Austria. “Interlaken, with its location between lakes and mountains, is a site that fits well with our concept. We look forward to welcoming both regional and international guests.”

Local Setting, International Brand
The new coffee house is designed to integrate into its surroundings, drawing on elements that reflect the nearby mountain landscape. It is intended to serve both travelers and local residents, whether for a morning coffee with views of the surrounding area, as a meeting point, or for a short break during the day.
On 19 March, Starbucks will host an opening event for guests, partners and invited attendees, including an official ceremony and traditional alphorn music. Complimentary beverages will be offered between 10:00 and 11:30 am.

The Interlaken team comprises around 12 employees from the local area. The company states that the location will cater to both residents and international visitors, offering options ranging from takeaway coffee to in-store consumption. Information on open positions is available for those interested in employment opportunities at the new site.
