VIA Outlets is expanding at almost every one of its 11 premium fashion outlet locations across Europe, and strengthening the F&B offering is a priority, CEO Otto Ambagtsheer says. He’s confident that organic growth will continue to be the company’s mainstay, because there are very few acquisition opportunities on the market currently, but VIA Outlets will seize the chance to invest if the right M&A deal arises that fits with its business strategy. He added that expanding VIA Outlets’ omnichannel strategy is another key priority.

ACROSS discusses why now is the best time to be part of the project with Roger Goyk, Director of Retail Brookfield Properties, and Jonathan Doughty, Special Project Manager at ECE.

In order for retailers and retail property operators to inspire and retain customers in the long term, it is essential that they rethink their spaces and develop innovative concepts, according to HBB. Such new approaches include the redefinition of multi-sensory shopping experiences and strategies to enhance the customer experience.

The bowling concept is opening its first location in continental Europe with The Playce in Berlin. The British company’s appetite for expansion does not stop there. Tim Wilks, founder of the concept, explains in an interview why bowling, in particular, is a successful format, how he guarantees footfall for shopping center landlords and other tenants, and which markets and locations are on his list.

Just over a month after the German sister companies decided to close all 56 stores, Esprit´s French subsidiary is now also ceasing operations.

ROS Retail Outlet Shopping has created its first AI-generated campaign that will be used across its entire portfolio in seven European countries this autumn, becoming a pioneer and the first operator in the retail real estate industry to apply this technology in a campaign.

Afound, H&M’s digital outlet, will be closing its doors later this year. Brands that are displayed in the outlet have adapted more direct-to-consumer strategies, resulting in a lack of demand. Their products in sale are often sold on their own websites.

As a retail specialist advisor, ambas Real Estate Gmbh served as exclusive sell-side advisor to the shareholders of ROS – Retail Outlet Shopping GmbH in the sale of their pan-European outlet mall management platform to the French FREY group.

As an international F&B consultant, I am constantly confronted with statements like, “It’s not rocket science; how difficult can it be, or everyone can run a restaurant?” So I will use this column edition to embark on a little journey with you. We have already established that hospitality experiences are more important than ever. When I started in this industry, we thought 6% F&B was a good rate; now, we are running developments at 20%.
