Record year 2016: 2.8 million visitors for the designer outlets Wolfsburg

With about 2.8 million visitors and another significant turnover plus compared to the previous year, new records were set at the designer outlets Wolfsburg.

After opening a Dean & David restaurant in January 2017, the center is fully let. “We have inquiries from many other top brands and will therefore have to change up our tenant portfolio this year to accommodate these new shops at the center,” says Managing Director Stephan Schäfer.

In the past year, the center has already made numerous improvements. Levi’s, Roy Robson, Sarar, Le Creuset and The Body Shop have been extensively rebuilt. With the new openings of Jack Wolfskin and Hunkemöller, the center now offers a larger selection of outdoor and lingerie wares.

Once again, the designer outlet center Wolfsburg played a pioneering role: in January, Dean & David opened the first restaurant in an outlet center and contributed to a perfect start of the new financial year for the designer outlets Wolfsburg. Liebeskind and Gant have also reopened their recently remodeled stores.

“We are very pleased that we were able to significantly increase visitor numbers and revenues again for the ninth year in a row. These are the best prerequisites for the beginning of the third construction phase, which will be starting this year,” says Managing Director Stephan Schäfer.

Above all, the number of visitors from the further catchment area has risen compared to the previous year, so that in 2016 more than three quarters of the visitors came from the supra-regional catchment area of Wolfsburg.

Center Manager Michael Ernst commented: “With the designer outlets Wolfsburg we now represent one of the strongest supra-regional visitor magnets in Wolfsburg and the region. Even cars coming from Berlin, Hamburg, Kassel and Bielefeld are no longer a rarity on weekends.”

The year 2017 marks the 10th birthday of the designer outlets Wolfsburg. On this occasion there will be many different events and activities at the center to celebrate the anniversary accordingly.

“This year, we have prepared a lot of novelties for our visitors,” says Michael Ernst. “Also, the LSW construction site in front of our doorstep should be completed this year, so together with our neighbors we look very much forward to a brand new Nordkopf and the improved connection with Porschestraße.”

The designer outlets Wolfsburg opened on December 15, 2007 and now offer 17,500 sq m of rental space with outlet brand stores operated directly by the respective manufacturers like Abercrombie & Fitch, Adidas, Calvin Klein, Marc O’Polo, Michael Kors, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Superdry, Timberland, etc.. The center currently employs more than 550 people.
