Popular Glasgow shopping centre now fully let

Knightswood Shopping Centre, in the Knightswood area of Glasgow is fully let for the first time in three years after LCP, the commercial property and investment company that manages the centre, signed up three tenants in just six weeks.

A Glasgow neighbourhood shopping centre is fully let for the first time in three years after a flurry of new tenants signed up.

Commercial property and investment company LCP has signed new leases with three businesses in just six weeks at Knightswood Shopping Centre, in Knightswood, as the centre strengthens its presence in the local community.

Beds West End Limited, a bedding and homeware retailer that is expanding its central Scotland network of stores, has acquired a 4,875 sq ft shop after agreeing a five-year lease.

This is its second store with LCP, with more likely to follow.

Reg Bright, managing director, said: “We have had a fantastic start and customer throughput has been excellent. The centre has a large catchment and attracts a wide variety of customers.”

The second business heading to Knightswood is Tubbees, a locally owned family business that sells slush drinks, desserts and confectionery. It has agreed a 10-year lease of a 2,400 sq ft store as it pursues ambitious growth plans across west central Scotland.

The final tenant at the centre, which is anchored by Tesco, is pawnbroker Pisces Gold which has signed a five-year lease for a 1,070 sq ft unit.

Roddy Proudfoot, Head of Scotland at LCP, which manages the centre, said achieving full occupancy after a challenging 15 months for retailers demonstrates the value of local convenience parades.

“We are committed to investing in our local retail centres to ensure that we attract tenants that add real value and broaden the appeal of the centre to the local shoppers who use them,” he said. “The enduring appeal of Knightswood – and convenience retail in general – is that we have a great range of services on offer which are easily accessible. These lettings further strengthen the local offer in Knightswood and we are delighted to welcome these new occupiers.”

Knightswood Shopping Centre is owned by LCP Securities Limited, one of the LCP group of companies, and comprises 23 stores, including high street names such as Iceland, Farmfoods and Lloyds Pharmacy plus locally owned opticians, dentist, doctors and café. There are also 140 parking spaces.
