METRO PROPERTIES provides locations for vaccination centers in Neunkirchen and Hürth

In early December, METRO PROPERTIES received inquiries from various counties regarding the possible establishment of vaccination centers.

“In collaboration with the counties, we are reviewing options in our portfolio that are suitable for vaccination centers to do our part to help combat COVID-19. The METRO PROPERTIES team is pleased that we can provide the sites and support the counties of Neunkirchen, St. Wendel and Saarpfalz-Kreis and Rhein-Erft-Kreis in implementing suitable vaccination centers,” says Oliver Borg, Director Region Germany, METRO PROPERTIES.

In the cities of Neukirchen and Hürth, our teams have already handed over the properties. “We are aware of our responsibility, so we are doing everything we can to make the establishment of the vaccination centers possible,” says Jochen Fischer, responsible Project Manager at METRO PROPERTIES, on behalf of the teams involved.

The future vaccination center in the former Max Bahr DIY store in Neunkirchen includes the entire vaccination logistics and covers a rental area of approx. 1,500 m². The vaccination center is responsible for approx. 1.45 million inhabitants and is leased to the district until March 31, 2022. From the time the vaccine is made available, approx. 1,000 vaccinations per day are to take place here.

Another vaccination center is being built in Hürthpark on the site of a former Real hypermarket. METRO PROPERTIES has leased the property to the Rhein-Erft district until the end of 2021. The center in Hürth, which is directly adjacent to the former Real hypermarket, is owned by DEKA Immobilien, Sparkassen Finanzgruppe. The parking spaces of Hürthpark are available for use by the vaccination center.

A barrier-free Corona vaccination center with six vaccination lanes is being built here on an area of approx. 5,000 m², where it is expected that more than 1,500 people can be vaccinated per day. In addition, there will be waiting areas, rooms for education and rooms for follow-up, where generous safety distances can be maintained.
