City Point Bochum shopping centre turns 30: That calls for a celebration!

City Point Bochum shopping centre is turning 30 – that calls for a celebration! Between 2 and 30 March 2019, the City Point Bochum shopping centre in the heart of Bochum will offer numerous activities for visitors of all ages.

City Point Bochum emerged from what was originally a Wertheim department store that opened in 1957. It was converted into a shopping centre on 2 March 1989 and expanded in 1992. The shopping centre is located at Kortumstraße 89, with easy access to underground station “Bochum Rathaus” (Bochum city hall). It has 26 shops on four sales floors, a large food court, as well as offices and doctors’ practices on the upper floors. City Point Bochum has a total rental area of approx. 10,700 square metres. Tenants include H&M, dm, Esprit and Hallhuber.

“We invite all residents of Bochum to celebrate our 30th anniversary with us. Starting on 2 March, we have planned numerous events, for example with TV star Ross Anthony, Bachelor Paul Janke and a ballroom dancing class with RTL legend Joachim Llambi. With more than four million visitors each year, City Point Bochum is a firmly established staple in Bochum,” says Uwe Matthias, Centre Manager at Prelios Immobilien Management. “We will be implementing a number of measures at City Point Bochum and already started converting the third floor for new forms of use at the beginning of January. One of our aims is to create additional space in an attractive inner city location for further doctors and service providers.”

The following activities and sweepstakes are planned in celebration of the anniversary:

9 March: 3,000 red roses from Bachelor Paul Janke
21 March: “Bochum tanzt” – Bochum’s biggest ballroom dancing class with RTL legend Joachim Llambi

The advantages of City Point Bochum shopping centre in the heart of Bochum include its excellent connections to public transportation, the passage to the “Drehscheibe” shopping centre across the street, an impressive atrium, renowned anchor tenants, an attractive food court and the high footfall of over four million visitors per year. The catchment area is very large: The city of Bochum has roughly 361,000 inhabitants, a centrality score of 119 and a catchment area of 800,000 people within a radius of 15 minutes.
