Chapman Taylor’s £75m expansion for Princesshay is granted planning

The Princesshay Leisure Development, has been given the go ahead following the planning approval of reserved matters by Exeter City Council.

The scheme forms an extension to the Princesshay retail led mixed-use development, designed by Chapman Taylor, Panter Hudspith and Wilkison Eyre that was opened in 2007.

This development occupies the site of the current bus and coach station and extends Princesshay’s mix of uses by including complementary retail, restaurants, cinema and a wet sports centre to be delivered by the council, all masterplanned around a new amphitheatre that sits at the heart of the project.

The Princesshay Partnership, which includes The Crown Estates and TH Real Estates, held a series of public consultations over the summer last year to ensure the local community supported these proposals.

The award winning Princesshay has already made a major contribution to the ongoing regeneration of the city centre and these compatible uses masterplanned around a quality public realm will help to continue this process.

Construction work will start on site in 2018.
