MK Illumination Breaks the €170 Million Mark and Expands Its Global Footprint

With record revenues, landmark international projects and new market entries on two continents, MK Illumination demonstrates how light in public space has become an economic and social driver rather than an accessory.

MK Illumination has closed the 2025 financial year with revenues of €170 million, the highest in the company’s history. Achieved against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty and volatile global markets, the result underlines the resilience of the Tyrolean lighting specialist and its strong international positioning.

“Light has long ceased to be mere decoration – it creates atmosphere, identity and economic impact,” says Thomas Mark, President of the MK Illumination Group and member of the ACROSS Advisory Board. “Our growth shows that cities and destinations worldwide increasingly understand the value of professionally designed light experiences.”

Prestige Projects by MK Illumination

Prestige projects continue to play a central role. In New York, MK Illumination once again delivered some of the city’s most prominent festive installations, including projects for Cartier, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Burberry at Bloomingdale’s and Radio City Music Hall. This visibility has driven above-average growth in North America, despite a generally weakening market and challenging trade conditions.

Further momentum came from Scandinavia, Mexico, Canada, Japan and China. The company’s international portfolio in 2025 ranged from the winter staging of the Chinese ski resort Arnanya in Chongli and a new light park in Japan, to shopping centers in Mexico, installations in Canada and Sweden, and the expansion of the lighting concept around Potsdamer Platz in Berlin for Brookfield Properties. In Australia, a site restructuring completed two years ago has translated into revenues exceeding expectations.

LUMAGICA Light Parks and Further Expansion

Light parks and events proved to be a particularly dynamic segment. With 16 parks worldwide – eleven under the LUMAGICA brand – MK Illumination expects more than 1.5 million visitors this season. “These formats respond to a growing demand for shared, emotional experiences, especially in the darker months of the year,” Thomas Mark notes.

Strategically, MK Illumination entered India and Nigeria in 2025. A flagship project at New Delhi’s international airport signals a successful start in India, while the establishment of MK Illumination West Africa Ltd. in Nigeria lays the foundation for long-term development across the African continent.

At home, the takeover of Innsbruck’s Marktplatz Christmas market reflects the company’s belief in light as a catalyst for social interaction. Looking ahead to 2026, MK Illumination is planning conservatively, focusing on agility, innovation and year-round lighting solutions.

“Uncertainty remains high,” says Mark, “but standing still is not an option in a global market shaped by change.”
