93 store integrations – 93 success stories

In just 18 months, 93 former Real stores have been transformed into attractive Kaufland stores. Every single integration has been made possible by many hardworking hands, professional planning and, above all, people’s trust.

In most cases, the stores were converted within a few days. In each store, the sales area was refurbished, refrigerated display cases, service counters and technology were renewed, checkout and empties areas were redesigned, new bakery stores were installed and areas that became available were used, for example, for a sushi island.

Good cooperation between all those involved was crucial for all integration processes: local authorities and administrations, construction companies and tradesmen. The rapid decisions of the antitrust authorities were also important in order to be able to serve our customers as quickly as possible.

The more than 9,000 new colleagues at Real have many years of experience in the retail sector. They are the local experts, know the business and the customers. For Kaufland, it was important during each integration to form special teams of experienced Kaufland employees to support the familiarization of new colleagues with Kaufland processes and systems.

A success story that was implemented in a very short time with great commitment from everyone involved.
