Over the years, the event has brought together people who are willing to be drivers of sustainable change in the cities in which they live, thereby creating synergies for the development of concrete projects. These “CityChangers”, a term used to identify those working to develop more environmentally friendly cities, include mayors, city planners, architects, and representatives from a variety of sectors, such as (retail) real estate and mobility.
The official kick-off of the event took place on October 31, 2019 at the Lisbon City Council and was attended by Fernando Medina, Mayor of Lisbon, and Gerald Babel-Sutter, CEO and Founder of the conference, among many others. According to Babel-Sutter, “Urban Future’s main goal is to gather people willing to turn cities into better places in which to live – for us and for future generations. Based on the current global discussion concerning the climate crisis, it seems pretty obvious that change is needed. That is why we will continue to search for the most passionate CityChangers who have the most impressive ideas to share.”
