Supported by main sponsor Hammerson, and supporting sponsor Lifestyle Outlets, the dinner attracted members from the diverse community of retail property and placemaking – including BMO Real Estate Partners, Colliers, Dixons Carphone Group plc, Glasgow Airport, Hammerson, Hines, intu, JLL, Lifestyle Outlets, Network Rail, Sainsbury’s, Savills and Workman LLP.
Alan Anthony, Managing Director of Threesixty Architecture and Revo Scotland Chair commented: “The evolution of retail places continues and we all now need to think about retail in its widest sense.
“Revo combines ‘retail’ and ‘evolution’, reflecting how the industry is ever changing and our broader remit embraces all kinds of property and all kinds of stakeholders including food, leisure, civic and culture, urban living and placemaking.
“Change is accelerating and it’s a great time to work in our sector. People want great experiences and physical place continues to play a significant part but it is now different.”
Giulia Bunting, Revo President and Planning Director at GL Hearn added: ‘Every day we create and invest in places that support communities, invest in the ‘Great British High Street’, and contribute millions of jobs to the economy, along with significant value in business rates.
“Working more closely and innovatively with the public sector we have opportunity to demonstrate to Government the clear benefits of regenerating our high streets and town centres to create better places for people and businesses.”
Paying testament, Councillor Mark Macmillan, Leader of Renfrewshire Council, delivered a speech on Paisley’s 2021 bid for the City of Culture outlining the benefits of a win to Renfrewshire – including significantly increased visitor counts, widespread regeneration and an estimated economic impact of £50m and creation of hundreds of new jobs.
Beth Wilson, Head of Events at Revo, said: “Our activity in Scotland is vital and this event remains a key staple in our annual diary, bringing together influential players on both a local and national level. We’re delighted such a vast and diverse representation of the industry were present last night and the room was buzzing with engaging discussion and energy.”
