It has never been clearer than today: urban space must be designed in a contemporary and future-oriented way through a colourful mix. Inner-city retail locations and shopping centres will have to downsize their spaces to avoid long-term vacancies. Many companies have started to optimise their Click & Collect offers. They want to analyse existing branch networks in detail and, where it makes sense, to concentrate on new shop formats with optimised spaces. Drive-in variants are now also under consideration. After decades of expanding retail companies, this can be an opportunity for cities to achieve a greater mix of housing, commerce and culture!
